The Isle of Wight were without Ulrich Ostergaard for this match and used R/R at number 2 while King’s Lynn were without Oliver Allen and used R/R at number 5.

King’s Lynn never looked like winning this match after making such a poor start which saw them 12 points down after four heats. They managed to hit the 40 point mark by virtue of two six point TRs and another huge score from the reserve berth from Troy Batchelor.

The Isle of Wight started with two maximum heat wins in the opening two heats before a Kevin Doolan win in heat 3 shared the points. Another 5-1 in heat 4 from Stojanowski and Jensen took the Islanders into a 12 point heat with a heat 4 score of 18-6.

Tomas Topinka took a TR in heat 5 and his win gave the Stars a 3-6 advantage but the home side hit back with their fourth 5-1 of the match in heat 6 from Boyce and Doyle. Jason Doyle won heat 7 but Stojanowski fell in the race for the line trying to pass Kevin Doolan for second place so the heat was shared. King’s Lynn took a 2-4 in heat 8 after Krister Marsh had fallen and been excluded with a win for Troy Batchelor. This made the score after 8 heats 31-20.

In heat 9 the Stars got to within seven points of the home side with a 1-5 from their top two riders on the night, Troy Batchelor and Tomas Topinka, but the Islanders took a 5-1 from Boyce and Stojanowski in the next heat to nullify that effort. A 4-2 in heat 11 put the home side 13 points ahead and that was consolidated by a shared heat in heat 12 won by Steen Jensen which took the score to 44-31.

After the interval, Boyce and Stojanowski took a 4-2 in heat 13 then Troy Batchelor took a TR for King’s Lynn and won heat 14 for a 3-6 to the Stars to reduce the deficit to 12 points. A final heat 15 5-1 to Craig Boyce and Krzysztof Stojanowski stretched the winning margin to 16 points which could be important when the bonus point is decided.
