Although King’s Lynn just scraped home in this match Rye House can thank their reserve Daniel King for keeping them in the hunt. His score of 19+1 tops James Wright’s score of 19 on Saturday as the highest of the season so far. Only Chris Neath won a heat for the Rockets apart from King and that was awarded in heat 14 after both Troy Batchelor and Adam Allott had fallen. King’s Lynn were at full strength for the match but Rye House used R/R for the injured Tommy Allen.

The track was wet enough for sawdust to be applied before the start but there were still three fallers in the first running of heat one. Stuart Robson was excluded and King’s Lynn opened with a 4-2 which was matched by a similar score from Rye House in heat 2 as Daniel King took his first win of the evening. The stars were back in the lead after a 4-2 in heat 3 and similar heat advantages in heats 5 and 6 saw them increase their lead to 6 points at 21-15. Daniel King won heats 7 and 8, the latter of which resulted in a 2-4 to the Rockets with Edward Kennett taking the third place point after James Brundle had retired.

A 5-1 in heat 9 stretched the Stars’ lead even further to 31-23 when Allott and Doolan headed home Werner and Boxall but Rye House hit back with a 1-5 of their own in heat 10 from King and Neath ahead of Topinka and Brundle. The next two heats were drawn but a 4-2 advantage to King’s Lynn in heat 13 opened up a six point gap again. However Neath and that man King again hit back with a 1-5 in heat 14 after Troy Batchelor had fallen to set up a last heat decider with the scores now standing at 43-41. Although Adam Allott suffered an engine failure in heat 15 Tomas Topinka won the heat from Stuart Robson and Chris Neath no doubt thankful that Daniel King had used up all his rides.
