Rye House returned triumphant from yesterday’s win against Newport to hammer the Isle of Wight who themselves arrived on the back of an away win at Reading. Rye House continue to use R/R for Tommy Allen but the Islanders were at full strength.

Craig Boyce won the opening heat for a share of the points and, after a 5-1 for the Rockets in the reserves race, the Islanders managed another shared heat in heat 3 when they filled the minor places behind Chris Neath to take the score to 11-7. Then the floodgates opened.

Five 5-1s and a 4-2 finished the match as Rye ‘rocketed’ to a 40-14 lead during which Jason Bunyan was excluded while on a TR. Next up for the TR was Ulrich Ostergaard but he finished behind Kennett and Robson for a 5-2 before the Islanders finally stopped the rot by sharing the points in heats 11 and 12. The score was now 51-22.

Another 5-1 from Werner and Robson after Craig Boyce was excluded stretched the lead even further but the Isle of Wight ‘rallied’ by winning the last two heats. In heat 14 Craig Boyce took a Tactical Substitute ride from 15 metres back and got up to second place behind maximum man Chris Neath. With Ulrich Ostergaard in third place the Islanders won the heat 3-5 then a 2-4 from Boyce and Ostergaard in the final heat pulled another two points back.
