Somerset were without broken wrist victim, Pavel Ondrasdik, and used R/R at number 2 instead.. King’s Lynn had Shane Waldron making his Premier Trophy debut at number 7.

The Rebels got off to a lively start with a 5-1 from Magnus Zetterstrom and R/R Paul Fry ahead of Daniel Nermark. Chris Mills won the reserves race for the Stars `and a shared heat but it was all square again after heat 3. Paul Fry fell and Kevin Doolan and Troy Batchelor cashed in with a 1-5 ahead of Jamie Smith. However ther Rebels took the lead again in heat 4 when Glenn Cunningham beat Tomas Topinka with Ben Barker third. This took the score to 13-11 after the opening four heats.

Daniel Nermark won heat 5 from Smith and Fry for a 3-3 then Magnus Zetterstrom did likewise for the Rebels ahead of Topinka and Mills. In heat 7 Kevin Doolan then produced his second race win to produce the third shared heat on the trot as Cunningham and Simon Walker kept Troy Batchelor at the back. In heat 8 Somerset doubled their lead with a 4-2 when Jamie Smith, taking the R/R ride, headed Chris Mills and Ben Barker home. This took the score after 8 heats to 26-22.

Somerset doubled their lead again in heat 9 when Paul Fry and Jamie Smith beat Tomas Topinka into third place for a 5-1 which put them 8 points ahead. Then in heat 10 Kevin Doolan made it three wins out of three by beating Magnus Zetterstrom. Zetterstrom had come from the back to lead the race but Doolan pipped him on the line for the race win. Troy Batchelor picked up the third place point so the Stars registered a 2-4 to cut the gap to 6 points but it was back to 8 points again in heat 11 when Glenn Cunningham beat Daniel Nermark with Simon Walker third for a 4-2. Then the heavens really opened and heat 12 was won in a time over 4 seconds slower than heat 11! It was almost a triumph for young Ben Barker who led Troy Batchelor and Chris Mills until the last bend when he fell. He was still able to remount and finish in third place ahead of Jamie Smith but the 1-5 to the Stars halved the lead to four points with the score after heat 12 standing at 38-34.

Racing was abandoned for 10 minutes to see if the rain would ease but the meeting was eventually abandoned with the score standing as a four point win to the home side.
